The Data & AI Program
new startups in data
and artificial intelligence who are looking to scale up in partnership with an international energy company.
We believe that opportunities to innovate are everywhere.
For that reason, Sente is scouting worldwide for early-stage innovations in Data and Artificial Intelligence on behalf of a European energy company who is looking to work with startups that can impact how it operates its business and supports its customers. This is our 11th program for international startups.
The program’s main sponsor, Enerjisa (a partnership of Turkey's Sabanci Holding and Germany’s E.ON), is looking for investment opportunities and/or pilot projects with participating startups.
Participants will also get exposure to the big data, AI and energy industry ecosystems in the US via a series of events and 1:1 meetings in Chicago, the top startup ecosystem in the US for investor returns and home to fast-growing AI unicorns Uptake and Mu Sigma and Avant. This is your chance to go global.
The program agenda is as follows:
Week 1 will be in the Chicago Connectory (a partnership of Bosch and 1871, the world's top university-affiliated incubator), which will be an intense, hands-on evaluation and refinement of startups’ business model for global scale-up
Weeks 2-7 will be remote (and less intense), where teams will work with Sente and its corporate sponsor to refine the evaluation of their overall scale-up potential (e.g. technology, business model, unit economics, scale-up economics, competition and industry dynamics)
All participants will then be invited to Chicago again for the week of November 26, where they will participate in facilitated discussions with the corporate sponsor to plan for proofs of concept and pilot projects as well as investment opportunities)
Example focus areas (applicants should have a demonstrable, market-ready product or MVP-stage)
Applications of data science in to business processes in energy distribution, consumer banking, insurance and telecommunications
Software for delivering consumer insights (behavior, usage patterns, preference, etc.)
Descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics applied to various parts of an energy distribution company’s value chain (from management of the power grid to marketing and customer experience of consumers)
Data visualization, dashboards and modeling tools
Early-stage innovation that has been proven in other industries and may have application in the energy industry
Before committing to the program, selected participants will have a chance to have a 1:1 conversation with the Enerjisa team (and Sente team) to decide if there is a mutual fit
Flights and accommodation in Chicago will be covered by Sente (for one founder)
Participants will confidentially share product roadmap, business pipeline and financial information with Sente for the purposes of due-diligence
Participants must commit to attending in person for Chicago portions of program
